Electro-luminescence (EL) is a technology in which a small electric current is passed through a phosphorus material. This current causes the material to radiate light. Unlike other light emitting technology, electro-luminescence generates no heat and requires very light power. This technology is superior to other light emitting technologies because it is light weight, flexible, durable, generates no heat, waterproof and landfill friendly because it's production uses no hazardous materials.

The battery pack is attached to the doormat with a weatherproof cable so that you can easily place the pack inside your door and away from the outdoor weather elements.
