Before the invention of the microwave, were people just more patient, or were they less hungry?  Because there is nothing worse than having to wait for the oven to preheat then cooking something for 45 minutes! Or in their case, building a fire.  There is just something amazing about only having to wait 72 seconds for a full meal... now that's cooking!
